Summary:
The Infant Toddler Specialist is responsible for using their expertise in infant and toddler development to facilitate high-quality professional development experiences for child care providers and other community members across WNY.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide infant and toddler-related program support to child care providers and other community members across the WNY region, with a focus on Erie County. In child care programs, this may involve the use of assessment tools and the facilitation of quality improvement plans.
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of professional development sessions that meet the diverse needs of child care providers, CCRC staff, and regulatory personnel in the WNY region.
- Represent the Infant Toddler Specialist Network and agency at community and professional meetings related to infants and toddlers.
- Assist in the development and distribution of outreach materials to support a regional public awareness campaign on the importance of the first three years of life.
- Participate in regional infant toddler consortium meetings and in statewide infant toddler meetings and trainings.

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and three years of relevant experience working directly with infants and toddlers; or Associate’s Degree and six years of experience.
- Sound knowledge of Infant Toddler Development in particular and child care regulations in general.
- Ability to obtain a New York State Training and Technical Assistance Professional Credential (T-TAP) within first year of hire.
- Excellent human relations skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including the current predominant linguistic, racial and ethnic populations of Western New York
- Willingness to present to groups of varied sizes
- Ability to carry out assignments without direct supervision
- Available to travel throughout eight WNY counties
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Multilingual in English and Spanish or other languages that would support servicing our customers, a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid NYS Driver License and vehicle with current registration and insurance
Physical Demands:
- Ability to receive and convey detailed information
- Frequently communicates with executives and employees
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Able to ascend and descend stairs
- Occasionally position self in small chairs or on floor to communicate with children
- Able to drive locally, day or night.
